APPEAL OF CONSCIENCE LEADERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE

HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS BESTOWS MEDAL OF HONOR TO ACF VP ARCHBISHOP KHAJAG BARSAMIAN

On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches a public Academic Act took place on Tuesday, January 23 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas “Angelicum” in Rome. Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Koch, on behalf of His Holiness Pope Francis presented the Benemerenti Medal of Honor to ACF VP Archbishop Khajag Barsamian for his many years of committed work for Christian Unity and specifically his efforts deepening the relationship between the Armenian Church and the Catholic Church.

Rabbi Arthur Schneier, Founder and President, Appeal of Conscience Foundation and High Level Ambassador, UNAOC, and H.E. Miguel Angel Moratinos, Undersecretary General and High Representative of UNAOC, forge their ongoing work with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations to improve understanding and cooperation among nations and people of all cultures and to reduce polarization at local and global levels.


TRUSTEE EARLE MACK RECEIVES AWARD FOR HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS IN UKRAINE

ACF Trustee, Hon. Earle I. Mack was awarded the Freedom Award for his extraordinary humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine from the Governor George Pataki Center by Governor and Mrs. George Pataki. Ambassador Mack and Trustees, Governor Pataki and Peter M. Brandt led five Appeal of Conscience Foundation relief missions to the Ukraine and neighboring countries to deliver humanitarian aid, industrial heaters and generators, medical supplies, food, clothing and financial aid. Appeal of Conscience raised nearly $500,000 to support the refugees including children and women’s support agencies.

ACF PRESIDENT RECEIVES MOTHER TERESA AWARD

President Bajram Begaj, of the Republic of Albania presents Rabbi Arthur Schneier, Founder and President, Appeal of Conscience Foundation with Albania’s highest award, the Mother Teresa Decoration for his “unwavering commitment to serving others and promoting boundless compassion which has left an indelible mark on countless lives”. The “Mother Teresa” Decoration is presented to Albanian and International Figures for their Exceptional Acts of Humanity towards the Albanian Nation and Humanity.

ACF VP ARCHBISHOP KHAJAG BARSAMIAN REPRESENTATIVE AT THE 16TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS IN THE VATICAN

The 16th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops was held at the Vatican, October 29 2023. This year, for the first time, not only bishops, but also lay men and women participated in the assembly. ACF VP, His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian participated in the Synod of Bishops on behalf of The Catholicos of All Armenians.

On October 15, in the end of the Angelus Prayer in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis expressed his concern about Artsakh: “My concern for the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh has not waned. In addition to the humanitarian situation of displaced people — which is serious — I would also like to make a special appeal for the protection of the monasteries and places of worship in the region. I hope that, starting with the Authorities and all the inhabitants, they can be respected and protected as part of the local culture, as expressions of faith and a sign of a fraternity that makes it possible to live together despite differences.”

Anthony Pratt, ACF Trustee and Ambassador James Larsen, Permanent Representative of Australia discussed with Rabbi Arthur Schneier the furthering cooperation in coping with the challenges facing the divided world.
