ACF delegation to USSR negotiates the printing of Five Books of Moses in Russian in the Soviet Union. Approval received from Viktor N. Titov, newly appointed Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council for Religious Affairs. Authorization granted to reprint version published in Vilnius in 1914

Rabbi Arthur Schneier, Bishop Silas, Head of largest Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in US and Chief aide to H.E. Archbishop Iakovos; Reverend Donald Campion, SJ, Senior Editor “America” . Meeting held with Patriarch Pimen where the renewed interest by youth in religion was discussed, receiving an increase in applications for theological seminaries. Also held meetings with Metropolitan Nikudim, Metropolitan Juvenaly, Rabbi Fishman and officers of the All Union Council of Evangelical Christians-Baptists of the USSR. Rabbi Arthur Schneier preached on January 7th in Moscow’s Central Synagogue, Bishop Silas at the invitation of the Patriarch celebrated the divine liturgy with the Patriarch at the Moscow Orthodox Cathedral on Sunday June 8 and Father Campion and Bishop Silas assisted in the 3 hour vesper service in the monastery church and famed theological academy.
