The Appeal of Conscience Foundation condemns the horrific attack on the synagogue, Addas Israel Congregation in Australia. Such acts of violence against places of worship are an affront to the very principles of peace, freedom, and mutual respect that underpin our societies. The Appeal of Conscience Foundation has long advocated for the protection of religious institutions, having secured, in 2001, the passage of a United Nations resolution that safeguards houses of worship worldwide.

The Appeal of Conscience Foundation condemns the horrific attack on the synagogue, Addas Israel Congregation in Australia. Anderson, Pastor Emeritus of Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church and Executive Board Member of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, along with Karen Dresbach, Executive Vice President of the Foundation, participated with interfaith leaders in Portugal at the UNAOC Conference on Safeguarding Religious Sites.

We are outraged by the brutal murder of Priest Nikolay Kotelnikov, the police and those guarding the synagogues. Destroying a house of worship of any religious community targets the jugular vein of that community.

ACF hosted the “Interfaith Community’s Role in Healing Together: A Forum on Mutual Acceptance, Mental Health and Youth” in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, supporting ACF’s mission to promote mutual acceptance, peaceful co-existence and Respect the Other and the U.S. Administration’s interagency policy efforts and strategy towards countering Antisemitism, Christianophobia, Islamophobia, and related forms of bias and discrimination. Forum attendees included representatives from the US State Department and White House, interfaith and mental health leaders from around the US.

ACF Trustee, Hon. Earle I. Mack is awarded the Freedom Award for his extraordinary humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine from the Governor George Pataki Center. Ambassador Mack and Trustees, Governor Pataki and Peter M. Brandt led five Appeal of Conscience Foundation relief missions to the Ukraine and neighboring countries to deliver humanitarian aid, industrial heaters and generators, medical supplies, food, clothing and financial aid. Appeal of Conscience raised nearly $500,000 to support the refugees including children and women’s support agencies.
